THE WEEKEND IN SPORTS
It has definitely not been a rosy weekend to me, going by the sports news. Except for the thumping series win against SL, every other individual/team I was following closely, failed to deliver.
Ganguly - A pair, out both times to Zaheer... You couldn't choose a better way to quit cricket, could you? C'mon dada, u're capable of more... Can you just not apply and be a li'l more committed? Biggest let down :(
Red Raiders - I was absolutely exhilarated after that extraordinary comeback.. two TDs in 37 seconds (ofcourse, the first being a consequence of some good work in the previous quarter)... evening the scores at 17-17 after being 0-17. Then, an impressive interception in the RedRaiders' Red Zone. Was the Nebraska game being replayed??? No, you lose the ball, let the Cowboys back, and end up losing 17-24. What a season it should have been, with the only defeat to the Longhorns....
English Cricket - The Rising - Salman Butt's determination and Inzy's dexterity made me feel England would be put in its place... Alas, with the exception of these 2 nobody scored a 50... When I totally accept that England's bowling is becoming world class now, for an Ian Bell to score a 50, you should have some nondescript bowlers. Whatever Islamisation did to Yousuf Youhanna... Why isn't he here??? Hope the second inning would be different..
Signing out...

MAJAAA
ok, firstly, this movie is a must watch for Asin ;)
After a long time sat down to watch a movie all alone... Overall, this movie is ohhhkayyy...
Vikram - :( Big letdown, can't dance, can't be funny... can't do _this_ role
Pasupathy - aahaa.. u are learning (from thalaivar (kamal) 'n mani) ;)
Asin - wowowowww... chanceyy illa.. (better not miss the chichi song). Simran 'n Kushboo were kinda attractive, 'cos they were revealing, fair, 'n all those... here's someone absolutely beautiful... she's really great... ( a friend of mine used to say, "namma pasangalukku ponnunga vellaiya irundha thaan pidikkum"... hmmm, ippo innaa solreenga?)
Now, there's this character by Vijayakumar, please let him out of acting anymore.. this movie is probly bad only bcos of him
Manivannan does his part, and the movie is worth a sitting...
Coming to the songs - I don't like Vidyasagar all that much, and 'dn't have known of some of his songs if not for my roomie... In Chandramukhi and now in Majaa, he shows he just doesn't want to experiment. You always have that Udit Narayan, one song for a melody, then the other formality stuff.. So, you'll always have something like a dhimsukatta, malare mounama, and 2-3 songs from all his older movies... Yes, that's how Rahman started it, but he experimented no bounds... Kangalal Kaidhu Sei, Meenaxi, Kaadhal Virus are just a few of his that show innovation... Vidyasagar can make no attempt to scale half the genius of ARR...
Overall, this Majaala is all awesome Asin.

P.S: Guys, better make it for Sivakasi this Friday... can't wait...

btw, listened to Kanda Naal Mudhal just now (yes, after so many weeks :( ).. Hats Off to YSR. Din't like erimalai naane (first for SM, then for the interludes). But, the same SM (yes, i'd like to say that to him :P ), has done a very good job in Merke Merke (to me, the best song in the movie). KayKay impresses again, despite that accent. Panithuli is my #2, very close to MerkeMerke. Then, its Sorgam adhan marupeyar thirumanam.. Yes, started listening with a frown that now is a smile (one song a lbb friend of mine would definitely love, if listened!) The carnatic Kanda Naal Mudhal to me sounded very ordinary, have listened to a lot of these. KooKoovena, again, not a great fan of Harish R (after his songs for HJ), 'd've probly liked Karthik sing it... a good one, good attempt, but, not a great one, an average score... hmmm, would wait for the next YSR album, more than HJ, a li'l less than ARR ;)

obVSly...
