GLAMORgone GANGULY???
Being an ardent Ganguly fan, I have been following the last two matches played by Glamorgan pretty closely. And to make it heartening, Gangs scored a century and a half-century in a losing cause in the last match (let's forget the 0 & 15* in the previous match). It was unfair of bbc and cricinfo to not have a live ball-by-ball commentary. Soon after the match was over, I browsed StatsGuru...
Man, itsn't been that bad... He's failed in the last 3 matches against Pakistan (5 innings). But, before that he had scored a 71 and 88 (ofcourse against minnows Bangladesh). And in Bangalore against Australia, he had scored 45 (only Parthiv Patel had scored more than him), and he was run-out in the second innings. And ofcourse, in the third (and only) test he played against Pakistan in Pak, he made a 77 before being run-out (the second highest score in the match, with Rahul Dravid making a mammoth 270, and India 600, sealing the series)
Its kinda unfair to start baying for his blood again (ofcourse, I too felt he shdn't be in the team anymore, but, seems itsn't as justified). There've been great players who've had this slump in form, but he's also had to build this team, fight the selectors, and even have some arguments with the venerable Mr.Wright.
There's been too much said about the great, but, he's always been coming back with a bang. Now, he's stamped his class with a magnificent 142 against Kent, hopefully he carries on from here and takes this form into his next international season...
